Plant Protection Centre, Sea Port Mongla, is an important part of Plant Protection Wing, Directorate of Agricultural Extension. As a signatory country to the World Trade Organization (WTO), it is mandatory for the Plant Protection Wing to carry out import-export activities of plants and plant products as per the WTO-SPS (Sanitary and Phytosanitary Measures) Agreement for Bangladesh to survive in international trade. To protect the agriculture of Bangladesh, the Plant Protection Wing takes effective measures to prevent the entry of foreign pests and diseases into the country by transporting imported plants and plant products, beneficial microbes and packing materials, and ensuring risk-free import and export of plants abroad in compliance with international regulations. It has been increasing and speeding up the export activities through the export of plant products. The point is that the main objective of the Plant Protection Wing is to implement the Plant Protection Act-2011.
